What does a Blair Township Supervisor Do?
The board of township supervisors oversee the various departments within the township, set local taxes, set salaries for township employees/elected officials, appoint department heads, review/approve construction projects, appoint members to the planning commission, appoint the board of the Blair Township Water-Sewer Authority and many other things that affect your local government.
What is Jacob Wible’s position on Township Issues?
Jacob is a conservative and prioritizes your freedom
- Jacob opposes all tax increases
- The Township currently has a robust treasury balance in excess of $2 Million, negating the need for tax increases in the near future.
- Jacob supports property rights and would like to simplify permitting and inspections so you can have more property freedom
- Blair Township currently has an antiquated provision under Township Code Chapter 227 – 7 “Permits required” which was adopted in order to comply with Federal 44 CFR 66.3-(a)-(1) before FEMA flood map delineation was readily accessible. The language was used as a “catch all” to comply with requirements for FEMA flood insurance participation. Now that FEMA flood maps are available, the township should be able to apply Federal 44 CFR66.3-(b) which only requires permits for all development in the problem flood areas as delineated on FEMA flood maps.
- Jacob supports local small business efforts
- Entrepreneurs deserve an environment where they can compete and succeed without excessive government oversight or meddling. Zoning, licensing, permitting and taxation are all conditions that hinder the entrepreneur and are all too common at the state and federal level. The compliance landscape is already confusing enough and additional local level regulations would only further complicate and dissuade potential business owners.
